Armand Serrano - Currently at Sony Pictures Animation and worked for Walt Disney Feature Animation as well as overseas productions of Marvel, Disney TV and Hanna-Barbera.

I don’t know exactly how I found him but as far as I remember, 5 years ago, GMA7 or ABS-CBN, broadcasted saying that a Filipino is part of an animation studio in US which is the Sony Pictures Animation. I was impressed that time because I was still a kid. I love drawing that time and when I heard it, I was really amazed which eventually led me to find his site. Without further ado, here are selected sample works of my first and childhood idol!

“My Juan And Only Philippines” This entry entitled My Juan and Only Philippines is a graphic design that shows the rich culture and art of the Philippines. The artwork is broken down into three main parts: The sky, the land and the water. In the sky, the “Parol” that symbolizes the Filipinos’ hope and goodwill during the Christmas season can be clearly seen as the main light of the Filipinos. The flying birds depict the freedom on which our ancestors attained during the Spain’s colonization. On the land, the Jeepney and Tricycle are one of the main symbols of the Philippine means of transportation. They have been in the country since the end of the World War II. And the last part, which is the water, illustrates the different sea creatures that can be mostly found in prosperous waters of the Philippines. I showcased here the things I feel proud of as a Filipino living in the country’s rich art and culture. The vivid colors of this art portray the mesmerizing diversity, colorful and fun culture of the Filipinos. So what are you waiting for? Come here now to My Juan and Only Philippines. So this is my winning entry in Nextivale’s contest under GRFX Category. I posted a W.I.P. of this illustration back then. Minutes ago, someone’s calling my phone and of course, I didn’t answer it. It might be a modus operandi of some guys so I ask who is he or she. Minutes have passed and I haven’t received any reply yet.. so I kept on waiting and waiting and bam! She replied, This is Princess from Nextivale.., so I asked why is she calling, she then replied that I won the said contest. I perused it like 5 times to make sure I’m reading it right. LOL. And yes, I won. Aha! I just can’t explain this feeling right now. So thanks everyone for the support! Glory be to God!
